David Hughes

David Hughes

David Hughes is known to be an artist and illustrator and lives in Marple, Stockport, Greater Manchester, UK. He describes himself as a graphic designer who happens to illustrate which I don’t agree because I see him more of an illustrator and not a graphic designer. At a young age he wanted to become an artist which he studies at Twickenham Technical College in the early 1970s, completing a four-year course on illustration. Today he is finding himself back in Marple, Greater Manchester after the adrenalin-fuelled team work of opera. He has been distracted by creating press adverts for American Express as well as being given carte blanch in 1993 by journalist Christopher Wilson to draw weekly portrait drawings for the newspaper Today's "Poison Pen" gossip column, where he created portraits of figures such as Delia Smith, Virginia Bottomley, Stephen Fry and Jeffrey Arche.
