Joel Stewart



Joel Stewart

Joel is a talented illustrator with a passion of drawing however he does like to mix things up with different media such as digital. He is mainly known from is Dexter Bexley books for contemporary authors such as Julia Donaldson and Carol Ann Duffy, and classic texts by Hans Christian Andersen and Lewis Caroll. Joel spent his early years in Yorkshire where he had the passion to read books and draw. He graduated in 2000 with a degree in Illustration from Falmouth College of Art. Ever since graduating he has been writing and drawing for a living and has won many awards, Macmillan prize for children's book illustration in 2000.
Silver medal, Parents Choice, 2002, for The Adventures of a Nose.
Selected for the IBBY Honour List for outstanding book illustration work in 2006 for Tales of Hans Christian Andersen.
Winner of 0-5 Nestle Bronze award 2007 for Dexter Bexley & the Big Blue Beastie.
Chosen by Booktrust in 2008 as one of the ten best new illustrators of the last decade.
